I have been waiting for Rishi Kapoor’s autobiography from quite some time but the arrival of Dilip Kumar’s autobiography was a pleasant surprise. His autobiography  The Substance and The Shadow was launched on 10th of June, 2014 with lot of fanfare by Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan in the presence of many other noted celebrities like Dharmendra, Anil Ambani with wifeTina Ambani, Madhuri Dixit and Priyanka Chopra veteran actor Vyjayanthimala etc.

The autobiography has been penned by writer and former journalist Udaya Tara Nayar. It is written in first person. Dilip Kumar tells his story write from the beginning as Yusuf Khan to Dilip Kumar, from Peshawar to Mumbai. According to Saira Banu, the book has covered every aspects of his life like ups and downs in his  career, relationships with a wide variety of people not only from his family and the film fraternity but also from other walks of life, including politicians, marriage and movies.

The Substance and the Shadow has been released on 8th June, 2014 and is available both on Amazon and Flipkart. The book promises to give details of account of his life which are not known to many. Well we will cover everything in the review.
