Master Chef India Junior was a mega hit realty show in India. Thousands of viewers were glued to Star Plus to know which wondrous dish these little kids will churn out.
Taking a cue from it Vikas Khanna, a Michelin-starred chef and one of the judges on Junior Masterchef India, has complied and invented some different kinds of recipes from India and around the globe especially for kids.
It covers all the meal courses in a day like breakfast bites, lunchbox, main meals, drinks and sweet treats. The recipes are illustrated in a photographic step-by-step format, which makes them easy to follow and fun to cook.
Apart from the recipes, there are also clear and simple details given about the various methods and technique of cooking. For example basic techniques related to baking like getting a cake to rise, preparing pizza dough, whisking eggs etc which will help kids and even adults to master the art of baking. An entire chapter is devoted to various ways of cooking like boiling, simmer, fry, stir-fry, grill, griddle, bake, roast, steam, dry-roasting, deep-fry, BBQ.
Each recipe comes with ingredients, there alternatives, colorful pictures showing step by step methods of the recipe, a little history or an anecdotes related to he recipe.
Some of the recipes which I liked most are Potato Wedges which are great alternative of French Fries, Tomato Soup, Mint Chocolate Pot, Lamb HotPot, Chocolate Brownie.
