Anticipating India : The Best of National Interest by Shekhar Gupta is the collection of his editorials. In one such editorial in 2007, he predicted the rise of Narendra Modi as the most formidable opponent of Sonia Gandhi and Congress. Well in 2014 it seems to be true.

Shekhar Gupta is the editor-in-chief of the Indian Express, a newspaper he joined in 1977 at the age of 20. As a reporter and later as an editor, he has brought to readers a ringside view of contemporary history from Operation Bluestar to the fall of the Berlin Wall, the first Gulf War and the many twists and turns in the troubled 1983-93 decade in Sri Lanka’s Tamil north. He also hosts Walk the Talk, an interview-based programme, on NDTV 24×7. He is a regular guest speaker at prestigious forums including the Asia Society, New York, National Defence College, New Delhi, Defence Services Staff College, Tamil Nadu and the World Economic Forum in Davos and its India summits. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2009.
