On 10 September, 2013 the shortlist of the Man Booker Prize was announced. From 151 books six books are nominated for this prestigious award. This year marks the 45th year of the prize. The names of the book shortlisted are as follows:
1. We Need New Names by NoViolet Bulawayo
2. The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
4. The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri
5. A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki
6. The Testament of Mary by Colm Tóibín
Robert Macfarlane chairs this year’s Man Booker Prize judges. Other judges include Robert Douglas-Fairhurst, Natalie Haynes, Martha Kearney, Stuart Kelly.
All the books shortlisted are very different from one another and it is a complete diverse collection. The Winner will be announced on 15 October 2013 at an awards ceremony at London’s Guildhall.
