This Star Won’t Go Out released on 28th January, 2014 almost 3 years after the death of Esther Grace Earl who was fighting with thyroid cancer. This Star Won’t Go Out is a memoir of Esther.
It is the collection of her journals, her parents’ blog posts on their CaringBridge website, Skype transcripts from her chats with online friends, memories recorded by friends and family members, Esther’s drawings and short fiction and a lovely introduction by John Green whom she befriended on Twitter.
In fact she also inspired John to write one of the bestselling novel of 2013, The Fault in Our Star. She was a great fan of Harry Potter and also want to become a writer something which she mentioned in her journals.
Esther might be suffering from a life threatening disease and going through tedious treatment but it never deter her spirits. She was always vivacious and full of life and smiles.
She is a great lesson to people who keep complaining about life being unfair. Esther on the other hand lived all the moments to the utmost without thinking of future.
This book is complied by her parents and friend. It is heart and soul touching. Just remembering the title song of the movie Kal Ho Na Ho. I salute the living spirit of Esther.
