book on manmohan singh

He is shy and reserved, love to work silently in background and seldom care to take credit for his work. I’m talking about our former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. This is known to everyone but there are is more substance in this self made man than it is known. His daughter Daman Singh has taken up the task to portray the story of her parents Manmohan Singh and Gursharan in her upcoming book Strictly Personal: Manmohan and Gursharan.

Even Sanjaya Baru in his book mentioned about the Manmohan and Gursharan that how compatible couple they are for each and other and shares a comfortable silent relation. Something which is so rare as we could see waring couples everywhere. Strictly Personal is the memoir of Manmohan and Gursharan and their three daughters Upinder, Daman and Amrit. Strictly Personal covers the time period before 2004 that is before Manmohan Singh became the prime minister of India.

Based on conversations with her parents and hours spent in libraries and archives, this honest and affectionate memoir provides new insights into the former prime minister and his wife. Moving from Gah, Nowshera and Peshawar; through Amritsar, Patiala and Hoshiarpur; to Chandigarh, Cambridge and Oxford; then New York, Bombay and Geneva; and on to New Delhi, this intimate portrayal of two lives is also the history of a nation unfolding over half a century.

Manmohan Singh reputation took a severe beating during his term as prime minister in UPA 2. Sanjaya Baru’s The Accidental Prime Minister did help in some damage control. Now Strictly Personal promises to shed more light on the life of Dr. Manmohan Singh and Gursharan who otherwise likes to stay away from limelight.

The book is expected to release on 14th August, 2014.
